Ruparelia Group boosts the Maternal Initiative by donating a bicycle ambulance to assist pregnant women.

In order to help expectant women in rural Uganda, the Ruparelia Group donated a fully equipped $3000 tricycle ambulance to Rotary International's Maternal Village Ambulance Initiative. The donation was made by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja while flagging off the first 50 tricycle village ambulances donated by Rotary District 9214 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Ms. Nabbanja commended Sudhir and other Rotarians for their efforts to assist the needy through a variety of service delivery and quality healthcare initiatives. "In particular, I want to thank you Rotarians for working tirelessly to change the lives of Ugandans, especially the vulnerable." Thank you very much. "The President also supports the idea of having a fully equipped tricycle ambulance in every Ugandan village," Nabbanja said.

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman of the Ruparelia Group and an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Muyenga who was inducted as an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Kiwatule last October, was in attendance at the event where he was recognised by the Rotary Clubs of Uganda and Tanzania for changing people's lives. A pilot programme will concentrate on Wakiso, Kabarole, and Kabale.

She went on to explain that, depending on resources, the notion will be adopted throughout the country. According to District Governor Rotary Peace, the 50 bike ambulances will promote the quick referral of mothers and newborn children in difficult-to-reach locations. The tricycle ambulances will improve the timely referral of mothers and newborn babies in hard-to-reach areas, and they will be registered with the Ministry of Health for primary use at the health centre where the majority of maternal mortality cases are reported

The Ruparelia Foundation has previously contributed to Rotary projects. Sudhir gave an ambulance to the Rotary Club of Nsangi in July, as well as Shs10 million to the hospital's maternity wing. He also contributed Sh10 million to Rotary International's efforts to construct a cancer unit at Nsambya Hospital. Health care, education, sports, wildlife and environmental preservation, disaster assistance, entrepreneurship, and general welfare are among the foundation's core interests. The Ruparelia Foundation has assisted over 700 charity efforts around the country to date.
