Fittings, air conditioning, and audio-visual equipment installations, among other things, are being installed at the newly completed Speke Resort conference center. These final touches are crucial to ensuring that the convention center is fully equipped and ready to host a wide range of events. These works' attention to detail will provide participants with a comfortable and technologically advanced environment.
On January 15–20, 2024, the venue will host the 19th NAM Summit as well as the Third South Summit, commonly known as the G77 Summit, on January 21–23, 2024.
The Ruparelia Group and the Ugandan government's investment arm, the United Development Corporation (UDC), collaborated on the project. The convention center is intended to attract guests and participants from across the world, showcasing Uganda as a premier international event destination.
The convention center strives to provide a seamless experience for both organizers and attendees by offering cutting-edge multimedia technologies, large meeting areas, and lovely surrounding hotels.
Among other attractions, the Speke Resort convention center offers a 3800–4400-seat auditorium, 12-high-end conference rooms, breakaway meeting rooms, and a café that can accommodate 700–900 people.
The building will be integrated into the Ruparelia Group's existing 105-acre lakeside resort complex, which currently contains two luxury lakeside resorts, Speke Resort Munyonyo and Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort.
When the three landmark hotels are united, they provide over 40 indoor meeting and banqueting facilities of varied sizes to Uganda's hospitality sector, with a total capacity of 19,000 people! This is in addition to a variety of other outdoor areas.
Apart from the meeting facilities, the property contains 476 rooms in various configurations, including 54 presidential suites. These rooms boast stunning views of Lake Victoria and are furnished with modern comforts to guarantee a comfortable stay.
With the addition of the additional amenities, the lakeside resort complex is expected to become a popular destination for both business and leisure travelers in Uganda.
The new conference facility is also supported by three modern kitchens that can prepare up to 10,000 meals each day. These kitchens are staffed by a team of highly skilled chefs that specialize in a wide range of cuisines, giving tourists a variety of dining choices during their stay.
Furthermore, the convention center is outfitted with cutting-edge audiovisual equipment and high-speed internet access, making it an ideal location for conferences, seminars, and other corporate gatherings.
The plant employed 10,000 workers at its peak; however, once finished, it will employ just 250 people. The peak capacity building of the center, which employed 10,000 people, illustrates the center's significant contribution to job creation and economic growth in the region.
However, once finished, the center's operations will be professionally managed by a dedicated team of 250 people, ensuring faultless service delivery and maintaining the center's reputation as a significant destination for a variety of events.
More parking space has been obtained, bringing the facility's capacity up to 1500 cars. This increase in parking space will support the increasing number of guests while also ensuring easy access to the center. Furthermore, the center's administration has introduced cutting-edge technology and infrastructure to improve security and simplify operations, reinforcing its status as a prominent venue for a wide range of events.
