Miss Uganda Elite Husinah Nassuna awarded full scholarship at Victoria University

The Victoria University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Lawrence Muganga, has offered a full academic scholarship to Husinah Nassuna, the newly crowned Miss Elite Uganda 2023/24. Nassuna, 21, who has a bachelor’s degree in nursing science from Victoria University, was among the 21 finalists at the Miss Uganda Beauty Pageant on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Prof. Muganga stated at the event shortly after Nassuna was crowned Miss Elite Uganda 2023 that Victoria University is thrilled to have been able to support Nassuna in her journey to the Miss Uganda Grand Finale and is even more eager to support her in her academy journey with a full scholarship until she graduates.

"We are delighted to have been able to assist Husinah in her quest to become Miss Uganda Elite 2023/2024. We believe that our role is to support and empower our students in achieving their goals and aspirations, in addition to educating them. This is why we are thrilled to award her a fully financed scholarship to continue her Bachelor of Nursing Degree to completion," Muganga informed this website.

Muganga also stated that if Nassuna decides to pursue a Master of Nursing or another postgraduate degree, "Victoria University will grant her a scholarship to accomplish that milestone."

He also praised Ugandans who voted for Nassuna in the online voting process, which played a significant role in her Miss Uganda Elite title, with an online vote count of 62,867 votes, trailing eventual Miss Uganda winner Hannah Karema Tumukunde, who received 70,830 votes.

"We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all Ugandans and global citizens who supported Husinah in this competition. Your votes played a vital part in her achievement, and we are very thankful for your support. It is through your compassion and generosity that we can continue to help our kids in reaching their goals and dreams."

Muganga added that Nassuna’s accomplishment is an encouragement to all of them and a testimonial to the outstanding standard of students at their institution.

"We think that she will continue to represent us with distinction at the world level including Miss Elite World pageant which is planned to take place in Egypt, come May 2023. We wish to thank the hard effort and devotion of all the competitors in the Miss Uganda 2023 competition," stated Muganga.

The VC also complimented Miss Uganda 2023 Hanna Kalema Tumukunde, as well as the first and second runners-up, Whitney Martha Ademun and Agwang Proscy Premah.

"You have set an excellent example for other young girls with a dream to succeed in life and make it to the top. We are tremendously proud of all our kids and the great things they accomplish. We will continue to support and empower them to achieve their dreams and make a positive difference in the world," he said.
