President Museveni inspects the Speke Resort Munyonyo Convention Center in preparation for the NAM and G-77 Summits.

The 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G-77) + China Third South summits will be held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo Convention Center next year. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and businessman Sudhir Ruparelia visited the facility to evaluate its development.

The President was given a tour of the state-of-the-art multifunctional convention center at Speke Resort Munyonyo, which has 4,000 seats for an auditorium and upscale conference meeting rooms. There will be twelve breakout rooms and a main hall that can accommodate 3,800 people in the new conference center.

The multibillion-dollar facility will also have smaller conference rooms or sides for discussions throughout the summit, as well as a suspended restaurant with views of Lake Victoria when it is finished.

The two summits, NAM and Third South, will take place in Uganda from January 15–23, 2022. NAM will be themed “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” while Third South will be centered upon “Leaving No One Behind.” The NAM summit will provide a forum for achieving our shared objectives and fostering international unity and collaboration.

Museveni reaffirmed throughout the visit that Uganda is ready to demonstrate its hospitality and contribute to a successful summit. Mrs. Natasha Karugire, the First Daughter, and high-ranking government officials, including the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, the Head of Public Service, and the Chairperson of the National Organizing Committee of the NAM and G-77 summits, accompanied the President on the tour.
