Evolve Group Africa is poised to orchestrate the third iteration of the distinguished Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS). The grand event is scheduled to unfold in a resplendent setting, a red carpet, black-tie gala, on December 1st at the esteemed Kampala Serena Hotel.
Anticipation surrounds the UMEAS gala, which vows to surpass the grandeur of its predecessors. The forthcoming announcement, scheduled for next week, will unveil this year's finalists. Notably, the current edition boasts an unprecedented number of entries, marking a substantial increase from prior years.
The influx of over 200 submissions emanates from more than 50 of Kampala's foremost corporate entities. The entrants constitute an elite selection, spanning the spectrum of industries, including distinguished banks, premier telecommunications companies, top-tier fast-moving consumer goods brands, and leading marketing and creative agencies, among others.
Contrary to assumptions, the accolades are not reserved exclusively for well-established corporations. Small and medium-sized enterprises have thrown their hats into the ring, seeking recognition in this year's nominations. The discerning process, however, mandates a meticulous evaluation based on stringent criteria to distill a final list of nominees.
This responsibility lies in the capable hands of a select six-member jury, comprised of eminent industry professionals. The jury members were meticulously chosen based on their leadership acumen, contributions to the profession, extensive experience, and academic qualifications. Their purview extends beyond overseeing the nomination process to the exclusive task of selecting winners across the awards' six special categories.
As the announcement of award nominations looms, the jury is diligently concluding assessments to narrow down a list of finalists. Some will undergo public voting, while others will be subject to the jury's exclusive deliberation. The culmination of this process will be revealed at the gala night.
The judicious selection of the jury aims to uphold the professionalization, credibility, transparency, and fairness of the entire process. Distinguished members include Dr. Benedict Mugerwa, Head of Professional Marketing Courses at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI), Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, Chief Manager Marketing and Branding at Centenary Bank, John Paul Okwi, Senior Manager Events and Sponsorships at MTN Uganda, Rogers Anguzu, Commercial Director at Crown Beverages Limited, Barbara Arimi, Head of Marketing and Communications at NSSF, and Jackie Namara Rukare, CEO of Iguru Consult Limited.
The battle for supremacy among top brands will unfold across 12 categories, with three newly introduced ones this year. Attending this prestigious event comes at a cost of 2 million shillings for a corporate table, 100,000 shillings for individual tickets, and a reduced rate of Ugx 75,000 for CIM students.
