Bongobongo Uganda over the weekend presented five hundred
million shillings (Ugx500,000,000) to Dewilos Fish Farm in Lira District as part
of its activities climaxing Customer Service Week.
Bongobongo, an advocate of responsible gaming, made the donation on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that will run over the coming months and years to ensure that sports betting and online gaming remain socially responsible and fun activities.
Mr. Andrew Kitamirike, the marketing manager of Bongobongo Uganda, stated that the Dewilos fish farm is just one of the many projects they have within Uganda, and he pledged to support the Dewilos fish farm by providing inputs such as fish feed, free training for the community and encouraging the youth to embrace the tree-planting drive and to learn from the fish farm because they will be able to earn a living.
He implored the government not to place taxes on animal feed as this would enhance the cost of operations for farms.
While officially handing over the Dewilos farm project and the donated items, which included fish feed, tree seedlings, and solar powered security cameras, Mr. Enyang Alex, deputy director of research, vetting, and profiling in the office of the President, encouraged the locals to utilise the project to gain knowledge on fish farming to better their lives.
The LC1 chairman in Amuca, Mr. Walter Okabo, observed, "This is a pioneer community project and the locals are immensely appreciative to Bongbongo Uganda for gifting them the Dewilos fish farm. He says the youngsters will be the greatest benefactors as they will be employed, learn, and maybe set up their own fish ponds.
"The fish farm is going to bring us guests from other communities that need to learn fish farming," further noting that the nutrition problems would be handled as fish would be affordable and easily available within the community
He ended by challenging other companies to not simply collect money from their customers but to also give back, just as BongobongoUganda has done.
