Construction firm VCON owned by tycoon Sudhir secures Ugx34 billion project deal from Islamic University in Uganda.

Ruparelia Group's VCON, one of East Africa's competent civil engineering companies, has been won a $9.1 million (UGX 34 billion) contract to build the Faculty of Engineering at Mbale-based Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).

 This project's infrastructure comprises the main academic building and the hostels.VCON, represented by Ruparelia Group chairman Sudhir Ruparelia and IUIU principal Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, inked the deal last week after the IsDB's no-objection letter.

 The project is planned to be finished in 15 months, according to the agreement. Prof. Gyagenda said after the signing that the project had been long delayed and requested the contractor to execute the work within the stipulated time period while adhering to the approved specifications and standards.

 "This project is critical because science and technology are the engines of growth in the country and around the world," Gyagenda remarked. Dr. Sudhir guaranteed the institution that the project would be finished on schedule and with high standards.

 "Our company currently has 11 ongoing construction projects, and this will be added on with sufficient technical capacity," he stated.

 VCON was founded on April 4, 2016, as a Building and Civil Engineering Construction Company with the capabilities of executing projects with a professional touch, with a focus on quality satisfaction and timely project completion.
