The Speke Convention Center in Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo, is nearing completion ahead of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Group of 77 (G-77), and China Third South summits, according to Uganda's Parliament Speaker, Rt Hon. Anita Annet Among.
On Friday, December 22, Ms. Among had a tour of the magnificent Convention Center, where the summit will be hosted in January 2024.
"Earlier today, together with the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa, the national organizing committee, and technical staff, we had a guided tour of Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort to assess the progress of the ongoing construction works in preparation for the CSPOC, NAM, and G77 conferences due next year," Ms. Among wrote in a post on X (now known as Twitter) at the beginning of the week.
She went on to declare that "Uganda stands ready to host the delegates, showcasing our commitment to fostering international dialogue and collaboration."
The speaker emphasized Uganda's preparedness to accept international delegations. She underscored Uganda's commitment to supporting international dialogue and collaboration, portraying the country as a welcoming and capable host for such gatherings.
"I am confident that the venue will be an excellent venue for successful and impactful events." Uganda is ready to welcome the delegates, displaying our commitment to the advancement of international dialogue and collaboration."
Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, the facility's owner, said that work is approaching completion and assured the Speaker of this.
"We are working day and night to beat the deadline, and I am confident we shall deliver everything on schedule," Sudhir was quoted as saying. Regarding the Summit
The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), a conference of 120 nations, was founded in 1961 with the purpose of advancing the interests of developing countries in the context of the Cold War struggle. They do not openly support or oppose any major power structure.
Uganda will host both the NAM Summit and the Third South Summit (G77 and China) between January 15 and 23, 2024.
